3 TTA (National Research Data Project) - Targets  Development of research data process: building a culture  Enhancing interoperability  Facilitating availability and re-use of research data  Advancing research data preservation  Facilitating data storage, interoperability (metadata and interfaces) and cataloging

4 IDA storage service Intended for storing research data, the ultimate goal being to facilitate the exploitation of electronic data in research. Secure and user-friendly storage service for data and the associated metadata. The integrity of the data to be stored is secured by managing copies and their integrity.

8 IDA service commitment  The service guarantees preserved data until the end of 2017.  There will be a minimum capacity of 3 petabytes.  Some minimum metadata will be automatically added to the datasets.  The usage is free of charge for the allocated capacity.  Dataset owners must define the terms of use and level of transparency. Copyright issues are strongly recommended to be settled before the the service is taken into use.  From 2018 onward extended metadata must be linked to datasets for data curation.

11 How to become an IDA user?  The Ministry of Culture and Education has allocated quotas for universities and the Academy of Finland.  The universities decide themselves, to which projects they allocate the quotas.  The application form must be signed by the university IDA contact person.  The application form with instructions (at the moment unfortunately only in Finnish): www.csc.fi/ida www.csc.fi/ida  The Academy of Finland quota: please contact CSC directly, contact@csc.fi
