Overview The art of ancient Egypt were characterized by stiffness, 2D and a rich use of color. In the figures human face and feet are always described from the side, but the chest and arms straight from front. Art of Ancient Egypt comprises sculptures, statues, architecture, paintings and reliefs. Most earliest signs of Egyptian art from the Neolithic period, before the year 3200 BC. Art of Ancient Egypt was totally ideal. Art was in line with prevailing norms and standards. Pictures of people were not portraits, but their appearance corresponded to the standard ideal of beauty . Cosmetic products Both genders used cosmetic products such as eyeshadow, mascara, pouder, blush, lipstick, eyeliner, nail polish and eyebrow colors. They also dyed their hair, eyebrows and beards (henna color). Upper class shaved their heads and used wigs. As you can see both men and women are wearing makeup and jewellery on the paintings. Their appearance is corresponded to the standard ideal of beauty.
