Working for a decade Centers have trained more than 900 Rotary Peace fellows The mission is to promote world peace by educating and empowering peace-builders through academic training Each year up to 100 Rotary Peace Fellows are selected to receive full funding Professional development certificate in peace and conflict studies A master’s degree in any of a range of disciplines related to peace and security Is designed for professionals who have already worked in careers related to international relations or peace and conflict resolution It is not intended for recent college graduated

7 Funding The Rotary Peace Centers are supported by Rotarians, Rotary districts, individuals, and foundations worldwide Districts are not required to contribute funds to Rotary Peace Centers However, all districts are encouraged to allocate some of their District Designed Funds (DDF) to support the Rotary Peace Centers Districts that financially support over two years with $ receive the designation of “Peacebuilder District”.

8 Finding and Selecting Candidates
All clubs and districts are encouraged to recruit qualified applicants For the certificate program, a strong academic background, plus five years of related work experience For the master’s program, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus three years of related full time work or volunteer experience For the master’s program a second language is recommended Some areas from which qualified applicants might be drawn: Non-governmental organizations involved in human rights International organizations and corporations Government agencies International volunteer agencies Military, security and law enforcement personnel District and Club Selection and Endorsement Process Applicants must apply through a Rotary district District’s application submission deadline of 31 May Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact a local Rotary club Clubs should review the purpose of the fellowship with the applicants By 1 July, the district governor must complete and submit to The Rotary Foundation The District Interview and Endorsement Form.

9 Eligibility restrictions
Rotary Peace Fellowships may not be used for PhD study The following people are not for master’s degree fellowship Active and honorary Rotarians Employees of Rotary club, a district, Rotary International. Or another Rotary entity Spouses, lineal descendants (children or grandchildren by blood or legal adoption), spouses of lineal descendants, or ancestors (parents or grandparents by blood) of any living person in the categories above Former Rotarians and their relatives as described above (until 36 months after resignation) Recipients in the professional development program cannot apply to the master’s program until at least three years after completion fellowship Recipients of the fellowships in the master’s program cannot apply to professional development program until at least five years after completion of master’s program

12 Piiriapurahoista myönnettävät stipendit

13 Hakuprosessi Stipendejä myönnetään Rotarysäätiön tarkoitusperien toteuttamiseksi opiskelijoille ja ammatillista pätevyyttään täydentäville henkilöille Stipendit myönnetään tulevia opintoja varten Piirineuvosto päättää vuosittain jaettavien stipendien kokonaisrahamäärän (2.000€ – 3.000€) Stipendiä voivat hakea sekä rotaryliikkeen ulkopuoliset henkilöt että piirin klubit nimeämälleen ulkopuoliselle henkilölle Kaikissa tapauksissa stipendiä hakevan tulee ottaa yhteyttä johonkin piirin 1420 rotaryklubiin, jonka kautta hakemus lähetetään Mikäli hakijana on klubi, lähtökohtana on yleensä se, että klubi tukee stipendisaajaa samansuuruisella summalla (50/50) Stipendien myöntämisestä päättää piirin rotarysäätiökomitea

14 Hakemukset Stipendit julistetaan haettaviksi vuosittain tammikuussa. Hakemukset tulee jättää mennessä Päätökset ilmoitetaan stipendien saajille mennessä. Vapaamuotoiseen hakemukseen tulee sisältyä ainakin seuraavat tiedot: henkilötiedot ja aiemmin suoritetut opinnot, asiaan liittyvä työkokemus, jne. (mahd. todistusjäljennökset) yksityiskohtaisesti stipendin käyttötarkoitus ja hankkeen toteutusaikataulu arvio stipendin hakuun liittyvän hankkeen kokonaiskustannuksista onko hakijalle myönnetty muita stipendejä hankkeen yhteiskunnallinen tai muu merkitys, hakijan sitoutuminen hankkeeseen

15 Velvoitteet Stipendiin liittyvän hankkeen päätyttyä stipendin saaja on velvollinen laatimaan säätiökomitealle yksityiskohtaisen kirjallisen selvityksen stipendivarojen käytöstä 3 kuukauden kuluessa hankkeen päättymisestä. Mikäli todetaan, että stipendiä ei ole käytetty haettuun tarkoitukseen, stipendin saaja on takaisinmaksuvelvollinen rotarypiirille
