The choice is made in 3rd grade, studying starts in 4th grade Two lessons per week Once chosen, the A2 language becomes obligatory until the end of basic education The grade for the optional A2 language can be left out of the certificate of basic education (end of 9th grade)

The choices are made online in Helmi: Opinnot -> Lomakkeet The form will be open from January 29th to February 18th You will be asked your preferred language and two backup choices whether the student is prepared to change schools in order to study the language chosen (completely) Each school will inform their own students of the groups formed
